Awareness Session on Kitchen Gardening and Climate Change Held at the University of Karachi

Karachi: An awareness session on Kitchen Gardening and Climate Change was organized at the Department of Sociology, University of Karachi, in collaboration with Green Hands of Pakistan and Tree Man of Pakistan.

Addressing the session, Tree Man of Pakistan, Shahroz Siraj, briefed the students about the growing impacts of climate change, environmental protection, and the importance of growing vegetables at home. He said that promoting kitchen gardening can not only contribute to a healthier environment but also provide fresh and nutritious food at the household level.

On the occasion, Anas Azeem, General Secretary of Green Hands of Pakistan, distributed seeds of various fruits, flowers, and vegetables among the students and encouraged them to grow the seeds practically and start their own kitchen gardens.

The speakers highlighted that with increasing population, climate change, and other environmental challenges, meeting future food requirements could become a major issue. Therefore, it is essential to encourage the younger generation from an early stage to grow food at home and take practical steps toward environmental protection.

At the conclusion of the session, the students expressed their commitment to playing an active role in kitchen gardening and environmental conservation.
